Patrick Mahomes sets sights on watching Texas Tech in Final Four

Patrick Mahomes hinted he’ll be in Minneapolis next weekend … to watch Texas Tech make its first appearance in the Final Four.

Been a great run for the Red Raiders as their former quarterback threw for 5,000 yards and 50 TDs in another shade of red for the Kansas City Chiefs in his first full season as a starter.

Then, on Saturday, the Texas Tech basketball team improved to 30-6 and punched its ticket to the Final Four with a 75-69 win over No. 1 seed Gonzaga.

Fomer major league pitcher LaTroy Hawkins told Mahomes via Twitter he’d be in the Twin Cities but needed help to get into the national semifinals.

It was also a sweet day for the Red Raider football team as it helped one of its fans, Luke Siegel, score a touchdown at a practice.

Per TexasTech.com:

The highlight of the afternoon, however, came midway through the scrimmage when Luke Siegel, the Red and Black Give Back Fearless Spectator for Saturday, cleared both sidelines after a touchdown straight down the middle.

The Red and Black Give Back program is a tradition (coach Matt) Wells established at Utah State that honors a member of the community most weeks during the season. Luke Siegel, the son of former Tech men’s tennis coach Tim Siegel, has inspired many in the Lubbock community for his recovery from a tragic accident in July 2015.

“It’s a neat moment,” Wells said. “We were able to have him out at practice on Tuesday and honor Luke and the Siegel family and hear his story and be inspired by his story. What a fighter. To have that moment was a special time for him and his family.”

Great sports time to be around Lubbock!
