Patrick Mahomes joins Kansas City Royals ownership group

Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a long-term contract with the team that drafted him in the first round in 2017. Now, the Super Bowl MVP is adding more roots to KC as he has become part of the ownership group of the Kansas City Royals, American League team.

The announcement was made Tuesday:

Mahomes has plenty of baseball history as his dad pitched in the major leagues for many years.

"I'm honored to become a part owner of the Kansas City Royals. I love this city and the people of this great town. This opportunity allows me to deepen my roots in this community, which is something I'm excited to do." @PatrickMahomes

Patrick Mahomes, the pitcher, played for six times. However, he never spent time as a Royal.
