PATNA: The ongoing construction work of the Patliputra Bus Terminal (PBT) at Mauza Pahadi on Patna-Gaya road is likely to be completed by October this year. The multistorey inter-state bus terminal, inaugurated in 2021, is equipped with all the basic amenities like parking space, fuel refilling facilities and workshop among other services for passengers.
The PBT has four separate multistorey blocks— Block A for arrival, Block B for departure, Block C (connector between the first two blocks) and Block D for commercial use, all these built at a cost of Rs 339 crore.
“The ongoing civil work in commercial, arrival and departure sections of the PBT is in the final stage and will be completed within next three months. The executing company has been asked to complete the work within the stipulated time. More parking bays will come up so that more buses can be parked,” said Dharmedra Singh, managing director of Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation limited (BUIDCO).
He said retail shops, anchor stores, bank and ATMs, administration office, hotel rooms, entertainment area, restaurant, food court, cafeteria and multiplex will come up at the commercial block as per the plan. Besides, the parking space and workshop, CNG fuel station and charging points for the electric buses will be installed for buses.
Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh, who is also chairman of the PBT executive committee, recently held a meeting and reviews cleanliness, security and progress in the remaining civil works being carried out by BUIDCO. He asked the officials concerned to form a sub-committee for smooth conduct of daily work for convenience of passengers.
The DM said they have decided to launch a website of the bus terminal soon, so that people can get all the details about the PBT, its governing body, executive committee, office holders’ phone number, local routes, online booking link, important contacts, information on public facilities and important tourist spots.
The committee will soon start operation for the city bus service from the terminal, to all major places like Patna junction, Danapur junction, Patliputra junction, Rajendra Nagar terminal, Patna airport and other important tourist places and hospitals.
