Patna: Eerie silence prevails at Phulwarisharif after terror module busted

PATNA: An eerie silence prevailed in Nayatola and Gulistan localities of Phulwarisharif in the city on Friday as well following the arrest of three people owing allegiance to Popular Front of India (PFI) and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on Monday night. These localities house several residential and business complexes. All the shops and business establishments remained closed for the third consecutive day on Friday.

Phulwarisharif police station is located hardly at a stone’s throw distance from Ahmad Palace in Nayatola from where the anti-nationals were allegedly running the terror module. With police teams frequenting the locality to gather more information, locals prefer to stay home and keep quiet.

According to locals, retired police officer from Jharkhand Mohd Jallauddin had given the first floor of Ahmad Palace to Athar Parvez on a monthly rent of Rs 16,000 to run the PFI office on May 15 this year. An agreement to this effect was signed by the two parties for a period of 11 months. Both Parvez and Jallauddin were arrested by the police.

Former Phulwari Nagar Parishad ward councillor Ashraf, who happens to be the brother of Jallauddin, said the latter was innocent. “He had let out the flat to Parvez to run an NGO office. The Ahmad Palace compound is fitted with at least 11 CCTV cameras. Police are free to scan CCTV footage to find out whether shady activities were going on there or not,” he said, adding a fair investigation was the need of the hour in such a highly sensitive matter.

The Gulistan locality where Parvez used to live wore a deserted look on Friday. With policemen visiting the sleepy area frequently and keeping a close watch, majority of the residents kept their doors and windows closed. Fear was palpable in the locality as people avoided talking about Parvez.
