Patient, 27, dies with coronavirus as UK hospital deaths rise

A further 494 coronavirus patients have died in English hospitals, including a 27-year-old with underlying health conditions.

Today's death toll brings the overall number of people who have died in hospitals after contracting the virus to 77,745.

Patients were aged between 27 and 103 years old. All except 22 (aged 51 to 87 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

The South West once again confirmed the lowest number of deaths, with 33. The Midland's reported the highest jump of 120.

Dates of deaths ranged from 23 December 2020 to 10 February 2021, with the majority being on or after 6 February.

The number of deaths of patients with Covid-19 by region are as follows:

  • East of England - 40
  • London - 81
  • Midlands - 120
  • North East & Yorkshire - 74
  • North West - 60
  • South East – 86
  • South West - 33

Deaths in all settings across Bristol and Somerset remain high this week.

A further 12 people died across Bristol and its neighbouring areas on Wednesday and ten in Somerset.

Gloucestershire reported four deaths on February 10.
