‘Pathaan’: The Shah Rukh Khan starrer collects Rs 533 crore worldwide over its five day extended first weekend

Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Pathaan’ has been taking the box office by storm ever since its release. The spy thriller collected Rs 533 crore worldwide over its five day extended first weekend.

There have reportedly been only ten films in history that have crossed Rs 500 crore worldwide. The highest number ever is ‘Bahubali - The Conclusion’ (Hindi) at Rs 801 crore, followed by ‘Dangal’ at Rs 702 crore. If the trend continues, the Siddharth Anand directorial will beat the numbers of ‘Bahubali - The Conclusion’ and ‘Dangal’ numbers in a week, a report in boxofficeIndia.com stated.

The report also added that ‘Pathaan’ has already broken the record of Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer ‘War’ which had grossed Rs 450 crore worldwide. It will soon beat films like, ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘Sultan’ and ‘Sanju’. The benchmark target for the film is reportedly Rs 1000 crore worldwide.

'Pathaan' had one of the widest releases in Hindi cinema, as it debuted across 8,500 screens worldwide. Despite protests in some parts of the country, the addition of shows and its popularity in single-screen cinemas helped boost the collections of the film.

Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, the film also starred Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in lead roles. The film also had a special cameo appearance by Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger’ character.
