Pat Smullen's daughter to make racecourse debut at Punchestown on horse legendary jockey rode

A daughter of legendary jockey Pat Smullen is among the riders in the Have The Conversation - Say Yes To Organ Donation Punchestown Charity Race on Saturday.

Hannah Smullen will partner Dalton Highway in the 1m7f contest, which is the last race of the 2023 Punchestown Festival, for trainer Dermot Weld, who her father teamed up with for a number of huge successes throughout his career.

They included the 2016 Derby with Harzand, the 2010 Ascot Gold Cup with Rite Of Passage, the 2015 Champion Stakes with Fascinating Rock and four Irish St Legers with Vinnie Roe.

The nine-time Irish champion jockey, who passed away in 2020, partnered Dalton Highway on a number of occasions, including to handicap successes at Navan in 2016 and in Killarney almost exactly one year later.

Posting on Twitter earlier this week, Hannah wrote: "Excited to say that I’m riding in the PKRF charity race @punchestownrace next Saturday! My first experience on the racetrack and for a great cause."

There are 25 horses set to run in the charity race, with trainers including Gordon Elliott, Jessica Harrington and Gavin Cromwell all represented.
