Tributes have been paid to an “extremely talented” former Winnington Park Rugby Club player who died following an off-road buggy crash. William Glendinning, 18, died after suffering serious head injuries in a collision on farmland in Hertfordshire.
Family and friends said William was “loved by everyone” and will be “greatly missed”. He had formerly played with Winnington Park Rugby Club in Northwich and was also a keen pianist and actor, CheshireLive reports.
The incident happened at around 5.15pm on Friday, September 23, with Hertfordshire Police called to farmland off St James Way, by Moor Hall Farm in Bishop's Stortford. Police said they had been called to reports that an off-road buggy had overturned.

A Hertfordshire Police spokesman said that William had sustained serious injuries and sadly died at the scene. William was a pupil at Uppingham School, a co-educational boarding school in Rutland in the East Midlands.
His family and friends at his former rugby club in Northwich have paid tribute to the "extremely talented young man", who "excelled at rugby, was a gifted pianist and a keen actor".
Paying tribute to William, his family said: “William was a much-loved son and brother who was studying at Uppingham School where he was passionate about rugby, theatre and piano. He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.”
And William's friends at Winnington Park Rugby Club have also paid tribute to him, saying: "It is with great sadness that we share the news that Will Glendinning, tragically passed away at the age of 18, on Friday 23rd September 2022. Will represented Winnington throughout our Junior section and would have been part of the current Colts side, but for moving to Uppingham School in 2021.
"An extremely talented young man, Will excelled at rugby, was a gifted pianist and a keen actor. A genuinely happy and charismatic person, he was a pleasure to be around and will be sorely missed by the many that knew and loved him.
"On behalf of everyone at Winnington Park, we offer our deepest condolences to the Glendinning family. Whilst there are no words that can help numb the pain you are feeling, we hope you can take some comfort in knowing that this club, this community, this family, are here to support you through the tough times ahead.
"We will be observing a minute silence before each game this weekend in memory of Will."
PC Dale Morris, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with William’s family at this difficult time and our investigations are ongoing.”
