Passenger's eyes gouged in wild mass brawl on train bound for Liverpool on title day

Shocking footage shows a man aboard a train apparently trying to gouge another passenger's eye out during a brawl.

A fight erupted on a train as it arrived into Liverpool Lime Street, as football fans piled into the city to celebrate the Reds' Premier League win.

The mobile phone footage captures a group of passengers desperately trying to restrain ttwo men as the train pulled in at the city centre's station.

Thousands of Liverpool fans were pouring into the city to celebrate the win on Friday afternoon when the incident took place, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The distressing mobile phone footage, taken inside one of the train carriages, appears to show two men locked in a fight with one another.

In the footage one man can be seen being held in a headlock by a passenger in a bid to restrain him.

The video then shows a group of women, some in LFC shirts, form a barrier between the men to try and stop the fight.

A man in a black and white checked shirt can then be seen putting his hand in the face of the man, who was held in a headlock, and tries to gouge his finger's into the man's eyes.

The train was travelling from St Helens to Lime Street on Friday afternoon.

British Transport Police are investigating, the force confirmed.

A spokesman said: "British Transport Police has been made aware of the video and will be making enquiries.”
