Parkinson makes four changes as Sunderland take on MK Dons in League One

Phil Parkinson made four changes to the side that started Sunderland’ s last league game, the home win over Ipswich Town ten days ago.

Two of those changes were forced upon him with Conor McLaughlin and Tom Flanagan away on international duty with Northern Ireland, with Jordan Willis coming into the side to replace McLaughlin on the right side of the back three.

Flanagan’s absence meant Luke O’Nien moved to the left side of the back three, with Lynden Gooch shifting to right wingback, which meant Max Power came into the side to replace Gooch in midfield.

Up front, Will Grigg took the place of Chris Maguire, who dropped to the bench.

And Remi Matthews made his League debut for the Black Cats in goal, replacing Lee Burge who had picked up a slight ankle injury but was still named on the bench.

MK Dons boss Russell Martin also made four changes to his most recent league line-up, which fought out a goalless draw at Northampton.
Ben Gladwin, Stephen Walker, Louis Thompson, and Matthew Sorinola came into the side in place of Daniel Harvie, Regan Poole, Jordan Houghton, and Carlton Morris.

SAFC: Matthews, Willis, Wright, O’Nien, Gooch, Scowen, Leadbitter, Power, Hume, Grigg, Wyke

Subs: subs: Burge, Maguire, Diamond, O’Brien, Sanderson, Graham, Dobson
