Paris Olympics: Bronze medallist Swapnil Kusale's parents wanted no distraction for their son ahead of the final

Swapnil Kusale's parents, who were hooked to the TV set at their home watching their son compete in the 50 metre 3 Positions shooting final at the Paris Olympics, had no doubt that he will bring a medal home for the country.

Kusale ended up winning bronze, India's third medal of the ongoing Games. All three medals have come from shooting, which is also a first for the country in a single edition of the Olympics.

“We let him focus on his work and didn't even call him yesterday so that he should not get distracted,” said Swapnil's father while talking to the media in Kolhapur, as reported by PTI.

“For the last 10 to 12 years, he was mostly away from home, focusing on his shooting. People have been calling up incessantly to congratulate us,” Swapnil's proud dad added.

His mother said: “Swapnil studied in a public school and developed a liking for shooting while at Sangli.”

Swapnil then moved to Nashik for advanced training in rifle shooting.
