Panthers waive 3 players, sign 3 others before training camp starts

The Carolina Panthers have announced a series of minor roster moves on the eve of 2019 training camp. According to the team website, running back Elijah Hood, guard Ian Silberman and defensive tackle Elijah Qualls have all been waived.

Carolina has signed three players to take their spots on the 90-man roster. That includes former Jaguars wide receiver/returner Jaydon Mickens, former Chargers defensive lineman Bijhon Jackson and former Panthers guard Norman Price, who was waived just before the 2018 season began.

They’ll all have their work cut out for them to make the team. Mickens’ history as a punt returner (39 attempts, 346 yards, one touchdown) might give him the best shot among them.

The first practice begins Thursday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
