Deion Jones has made his return to the NFC South . . . and it isn’t with the Atlanta Falcons.
As first reported by ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Monday afternoon, the Carolina Panthers will be signing the former Pro Bowl linebacker to a one-year deal. Jones worked out for the team in Spartanburg earlier in the afternoon, following the fourth practice of training camp.
The Louisiana State University product was selected by the Falcons in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft. He proceeded to make an immediate impact in the league, earning a third-place finish in the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2016 and making his first Pro Bowl in 2017.
Over his six seasons in Atlanta, Jones amassed 652 combined tackles, 11.0 sacks and 11 interceptions. He was then traded to the Cleveland Browns for a 2024 sixth-round pick in October of 2022 and went on to appear in 11 games.
