Panthers S Tre Boston fined for hit on 49ers TE George Kittle

According to a report by Tom Pelissero at NFL Network, Panthers safety Tre Boston has been fined $28,075 for his hit on 49ers tight end George Kittle last week.

There doesn’t seem to be any malicious intent on Boston’s part, but anytime you make contact with a helmet like that, chances are you’re going to draw a 15-yard penalty.

Truth is, safeties are flagged for plays like this more than any other position and it’s somewhat unfair.

Boston has had a strong season to date. His signing late in the offseason is one reason why Carolina’ secondary has improved so much this year compared to last. Through seven games, Boston has totaled 30 combined tackles and two pass breakups.
