Panthers pick South Carolina OT Dennis Daley at No. 212 overall

Who needs a safety? What even is a safety, anyway? In any case, the Carolina Panthers continue to roll through the 2019 NFL draft without a thought to spare for a single defensive back prospect. Using the No. 212 overall pick that they acquired in a trade with the Broncos, the team has chosen South Carolina offensive tackle Dennis Daley.

At the combine, Daley was measured at 6-foot-5, 317 pounds with 9.5 inch hands and 33.375-inch arms. He posted 20 bench press reps and a 5.23 second 40-yard dash.

Daley’s most natural position is at left tackle, where he started at South Carolina and USC.

Daley should fill out the rotation for a position that has been a serious sore point for Carolina the last few years. Greg Little and Daley should man the blind side, allowing Taylor Moton and Daryl Williams to stay at their more natural spot at right tackle.

The Panthers have one more selection remaining: the No. 237 overall pick, which they also got in the trade down with Denver.
