Panthers draw Patriots, Steelers again: 2019 preseason schedule announced

The NFL has announced the 2019 preseason schedule for every team and the Panthers will be seeing some familiar faces. Just like last year, Carolina will be meeting the Patriots in the third and most crucial preseason matchup, then they’ll finish off against the Steelers like always.

Here’s a complete look at the preseason schedule, with exact dates and times yet to be determined.

Aug. 8-12: at Chicago Bears

Aug. 15-19: vs. Buffalo Bills

Aug. 22-25: at New England Patriots

Aug: 29: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Panthers were relatively successful in the preseason last year, winning three of four including the New England matchup. It didn’t translate into regular season success, though. Carolina finished the year 7-9 and missed the playoffs, while the Patriots went on to win another Super Bowl.

Moving on, there are countless connections between the Panthers and the Bills, who have come to be called Carolina North. They’re coached by former defensive coordinator Sean McDermott and still a few former players on their roster. They’ve also added Cole Beasley and Frank Gore in free agency.

As for Chicago, the Bears will attempt to keep a strong defense intact despite a major change at coordinator from Vic Fangio to Chuck Pagano.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh will look like a much different team. Le’Veon Bell is now with the Jets and Antonio Brown forced a trade to the Raiders, opening up new opportunities for the likes of James Conner and Juju Smith-Schuster.
