Panthers claim former Browns C off waivers, place OT on injured reserve

The Carolina Panthers have placed offensive tackle Dillon Gordon (shoulder) on the injured reserve list. They have claimed former Browns center John Yarbrough off waivers to take his place on the 90-man roster.

Despite losing Ryan Kalil to retirement the Jets, Carolina is pretty well situated at the center position this year. One of their top free agent acquisitions of the year was signing former Broncos center Matt Paradis. He should qualify as an upgrade over Kalil so long as he stays healthy.

The Panthers also have a strong backup available in Tyler Larsen, who saw a lot of playing time in 2016-2017 when Kalil was out with neck issues.

So, Yarbrough has a tough path ahead of him to make the team. Until somebody gets injured, consider him a camp body.
