Pamela Anderson has hit back at allegations that her apparent romance with Liam Neeson is a PR stunt, saying she is not playing any “silly games” when it comes to love.
ICYMI, the two actors have been causing much romantic chatter in recent months, courtesy of their starring roles in the new action film The Naked Gun.
In between affectionate IG posts and complimentary comments about each other in the press, the pair’s relationship has drawn accusations of being PR-driven, with some fans claiming it’s all in an effort to promote their new movie.
But Anderson has called hogwash on those claims, saying at a recent awards ceremony that she “will never feed into PR stunts”.
The actress made the comments on Friday while accepting the Deauville Talent Award at the Deauville American Film Festival in France.
While she didn’t directly confirm whether she was addressing the PR relationship claims, Anderson did vaguely address the commentary.
“I do not and will never feed into PR stunts. That would be a death sentence,” she said.
Anderson went on to stress that she is driven by authenticity and not by tabloid chatter, while reminding the audience that she doesn’t play when it comes to romance.
“I’m authentically driven. I’m superstitious when it comes to love, and I’m not comfortable sharing any shred of my romantic life,” Anderson said.
“I appreciate your good wishes. There are no silly games being played. I’m sincere,” she added.
While Anderson appeared to put the kibosh on allegations of a staged romance with Neeson, neither party has outright confirmed whether they’re actually in a relationship.
The pair’s PDA-filled press tour for The Naked Gun has done little to quell the speculation, but all of it was cast in doubt when insiders claimed it was nothing more than a showmance.
Other sources then hit back at the allegations with contrary claims that the pair are actually “smitten with each other”, and Anderson’s recent IG posts certainly point in that direction.
Only Anderson and Neeson know the truth about their relationship, but they’re far from the first couple to be hounded by PR stunt allegations.
Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce and Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz are just a few of the celebs who’ve been at the centre of fauxmance chatter in recent times.
Call me a romantic, but can’t we all just live in the fantasy of love, no matter how staged, for even a brief moment?
