NEW DELHI: Pakistan's cricket board on Wednesday unveiled the schedule for New Zealand's upcoming five-match Twenty20 international tour, set to take place next month in preparation for the World Cup in June.
The Black Caps are scheduled to land in Islamabad on April 14, commencing their series with three matches in Rawalpindi on April 18, 20, and 21. The final two matches are slated for Lahore on April 25 and 27.
Usman Wahla, the director of international cricket at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), expressed optimism about the forthcoming series, stating, "We hope to have a competitive series which is a key part of our build-up for the World Cup."
Ahead of the World Cup, Pakistan is also scheduled to play two T20Is in Ireland and four in England in May. Subsequently, the team will head to the international mega-event co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies.
However, the touring New Zealand squad will be missing several key players in Pakistan, including Kane Williamson, Mitchell Santner, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips, and Lockie Ferguson, as they will be participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The PCB mentioned that their squad for the series will be announced shortly.
