Paisley schoolboy rushed to hospital after being struck by car

A young boy has been knocked down by a car during the school run this morning.

The Paisley Daily Express understands the 10-year-old was struck on Lochfield Road outside Todholm Primary around 8.50am. One parent who witnessed the aftermath of the incident insisted the route "is a total nightmare before and after school".

The boy is said to have been treated at the scene by paramedics and was then transported in the back of an ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for further treatment. His condition is currently unknown.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment while police say enquiries into what happened are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.50am on Friday, June 23, we received a report of a crash involving a car and a 10-year-old boy on Lochfield Road, Paisley.

“The boy was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. Enquiries into the cause of the crash are ongoing.”
