Councillor Kenny MacLaren has said that those who destroyed three bus shelters in Paisley have caused “pointless destruction” within the community.
The smashed-up bus shelters were discovered last Thursday – with glass spread across the pavement.
The shelters sit on the same route and are a vital access corridor for buses going in and out of the town.
Shelters on Ferguslie Main Road, Broomlands Street and Wellmeadow Street were all targeted.
Speaking about the destruction, Cllr MacLaren says that councils are already on a tight budget – and warned shelters will get taken away if this is kept up.
He said: “This has happened before, and I don’t know why. The council’s budgets are tight as it is, so to repair this will cost money that might be taken away from other services.
“If it persists, the shelters may be taken away and replaced with a standard bus stop.
"We don’t want that, especially in winter, as being cold and wet waiting for a bus could lead to the cold and other illnesses.”
