Packers RB Aaron Jones fined for taunting during TD run vs. Cowboys

Aaron Jones will have to wave goodbye to some money.

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, the Green Bay Packers running back was fined $10,527 for taunting Dallas Cowboys cornerback Byron Jones on his way into the end zone for his third touchdown of Sunday’s 34-24 win at AT&T Stadium.

Jones, who broke loose to the outside, waved to the Cowboys cornerback as he turned the corner and into the end zone, extending the Packers’ lead to 21-0. He wasn’t fined on the field, but the NFL reviewed the play and found Jones to be guilty of taunting.

Jones, who can appeal the fine, is a first-time offender. A second offense would cost him $14,037.

Jones wasn’t fined or penalized for throwing a football to his brother, Alvin, following the same touchdown run.

On Thursday, Jones told Pat McAfee that Packers coaches told him not to wave at an opponent again due to the risk of drawing a taunting penalty.

The week was otherwise a good one for the El Paso, Texas native. He scored four touchdowns, set new career-highs with 182 total yards, seven receptions and 75 receiving yards and won NFC Offensive Player of the Week and the FedEx Ground Player of the Week award.
