Packers QB Aaron Rodgers begins stint as ‘Jeopardy’ guest host next week

Former “Celebrity Jeopardy” contestant and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will serve as the show’s guest host for two weeks beginning Monday. | Jeopardy/YouTube

For the second time in his career, Aaron Rodgers is about to attempt to fill the shoes of a legend.

The Packers quarterback, who replaced Hall of Famer Brett Favre in Green Bay, will begin a two-week stint as guest host of the game show “Jeopardy” on Monday. The show has used several guest hosts since the death of longtime host Alex Trebek in November. Rodgers will be following television host Dr. Oz as the person behind the “Jeopardy” podium.

Rodgers competed on “Celebrity Jeopardy!” in 2015, beating astronaut (and current U.S. senator) Mark Kelly and “Shark Tank” entrepreneur Kevin O’Leary.

“One of my idols growing up was Alex Trebek,” Rodgers said recently on the Pat McAfeee Show. “I’m excited about that opportunity with ‘Jeopardy!’”

Television journalists Anderson Cooper and Bill Whitaker are scheduled to follow Rodgers as guest hosts. Previous hosts included Jeopardy champion Ken Jennings and journalist Katie Couric.
