Packers OLB Rashan Gary expected to play vs. Rams

The Green Bay Packers’ pass-rush is going to get a boost from a returning player on Sunday.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, outside linebacker Rashan Gary is expecting to play against the Los Angeles Rams despite an elbow injury.

Gary was originally injured against the Seattle Seahawks. He missed last week’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings but put himself on track to play this week at practice. On Friday, Gary was a full participant. The Packers listed him as questionable.

Through the first 10 games, Gary was one of the NFL’s most productive pass-rushers. He created a team-high 46 pressures, including 5.5 sacks and 19 quarterback hits.

It’s unclear if Gary will return as a full-time player or if the Packers are planning to limit his role in his first game back. He is expected to wear a brace protecting the elbow, which hyperextended while making a tackle against the Seahawks.

The Packers could use the help at outside linebacker. Za’Darius Smith is still on injured reserve, and top backup Jonathan Garvin just went on the COVID-19 reserve list. The team promoted La’Darius Hamilton from the practice squad on Saturday.

The Packers are less sure about running back Aaron Jones, who is expected to be a game-time decision on Sunday, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. He is attempting to return from an MCL injury.
