Packers claim TE Pharaoh McKever off waivers from Jaguars

The Green Bay Packers used their open roster to claim tight end Pharaoh McKever off of waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

McKever replaces rookie tight end Davis Koppenhaver, who decided to retire from football late last month.

McKever, an undrafted free agent from Florida International, originally signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers before finishing out the 2018 season with the Jaguars. He signed a futures deal in January but was released by the team last Friday.

McKever (6-6, 260) did not play in a regular season game in 2018. He’ll join a tight end group that includes Jimmy Graham, Marcedes Lewis, Robert Tonyan and rookie Jace Sternberger.

As a senior in 2017, McKever caught 27 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns. He began his college career at North Carolina State and for a stint played defensive end.
