Owen Hargreaves sends Thiago Alcantara transfer message to Manchester United

Owen Hargreaves believes Manchester United should try to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move away from Germany this summer, with Liverpool reportedly taking a keen interest in the Spaniard.

MEN Sport understands that the club are prioritising a deal for Jadon Sancho over any other business, with a move for Jack Grealish high on the agenda to add further creativity in central midfield.

United tried to sign Thiago from Barcelona before he made the switch to Bayern in 2013 and David de Gea wrote 'See you in Manchester' following a hat-trick for Spain's U-21 side.

With Thiago heavily linked with a Premier League switch for as cheap as £30million, Hargreaves believes that he'd be an ideal signing for Manchester United, as well as Liverpool.

“They (Liverpool) don’t have him (a player like him). On his day, he’s one of the top five midfielders in the world," Hargreaves told BT Sport.

"At the Bridge, we were blown away by him. As good as Liverpool are, he walks into their starting XI.

“I think everybody needs him. Man United, Arsenal, anybody would take him.

"He’s one of those players, if you played with him, you’d be blown away by how good he is. The only issue he’s had is injuries. He’s had big injuries at Bayern.”
