Owen Hargreaves makes 'fearful' admission ahead of Liverpool against Man United

Ex-Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has warned his former club will be 'fearful' walking out at Anfield when the two sides meet in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

The Reds welcome their rivals in a bid to go two points clear at the top of the table before Manchester City host Brighton on Wednesday. United find themselves in a race for top four this season, but find themselves three points adrift behind Tottenham, who occupy the final Champions League spot.

Ralf Rangnick's side edged past relegation-bound Norwich City 3-2 on Saturday afternoon, a late free-kick from Cristiano Ronaldo secured them the crucial win. But Liverpool will present an even tougher test for United and Hargreaves was warned they are 'hard to play against'.

"Everybody is scared to play Liverpool,” he told Premier League productions. “Even that Man City team, which is one of the best we have ever seen. They are hard to play against Liverpool.

“They go toe-to-toe with you. Everybody competes. The tactics. They never give up. Even when they lose they don’t play poorly.

“Man United will be fearful walking out at Anfield.”

Jurgen Klopp will hope his side can replicate the 5-0 thrashing they inflicted at Old Trafford earlier in the campaign. Goals from Naby Keita, Diogo Jota and a Mohamed Salah hat-trick formed the historic win back in October.

Liverpool go into the game in fine form having just beaten Man City 3-2 in the FA Cup semi-final to book themselves another trip to Wembley to face Chelsea. They'll want to keep their title and quadruple hopes alive on Tuesday with another big win against United.
