Owain Wyn Evans shares his packing woes as he moves back to Wales ahead of new BBC Radio 2 job

Ammanford-born Owain Wyn Evans may have shot to fame as a weather presenter but he's also won over the hearts of the British public with his sparkly outfits and amazing drumming skills. Now the star is moving back to Wales after landing a big BBC Radio Two role.

Owain will be hosting the all-new Early Breakfast Show and the show will be recorded at the BBC Cymru Wales broadcast centre in Central Square, Cardiff, making it the first live Radio 2 weekday programme to move out of London. Owain who currently lives in Manchester is now preparing to move back to Wales.

He posted a photo of himself surrounded by boxes, wearing a glittery jacket and holding a drink. Smiling at the camera he captioned the post: "Packing up the house as we're on the final approach to moving back to Wales!"

Owain then explained his jacket choice. He said: "I felt a bit chilly earlier emptying the shed, and one of the few 'casual' jackets that isn't in a box is this sequinned/sport piece...I might even wear it to the tip tomorrow!"

The 38-year-old is married to his long-term partner Arran Rees whom he wed in 2017. His latest career highlights have seen him drumming on Strictly Come Dancing, taking part in BBC's Freeze the Fear and joining his friend Welsh TV presenter Carol Vorderman on her BBC Radio Wales show.

When speaking about his move to the early morning radio show, Owain said: “When I asked my parents for a pair of turntables and a mixing desk from a DJ shop in Llanelli when I was 13 I never allowed myself to dream that one day I'd have my own show on Radio 2! I can’t wait to help kick start the day on Early Breakfast live from Cardiff. Bore da dahlings as we say in Wales!”
