Over 1,500 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Bristol in past seven days

Positive coronavirus cases continue to rise across the City of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

New figures show that in the past seven days, 1,645 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the City of Bristol - this brings the total of positive cases recorded to 23,983.

In North Somerset, in the past seven days, 655 people have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total positive cases to 7,388.

In South Gloucestershire, the past seven days have seen 856 new positive cases recorded, bringing the regions number of total recorded cases to 11,459.

Since yesterday (Saturday, January 16), one new death has been recorded in the City of Bristol with Covid-19 on their death certificate.

This means that there have been 24 deaths recorded with Covid-19 on the death certificate in the past seven days.

Bringing the areas total amount of deaths to 377 to date. 312 deaths have been within 28 days of a positive test.

In North Somerset, no deaths were recorded yesterday on January 16, this means that the total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate stays at 222.

This means that there have been 17 deaths recorded with Covid-19 on the death certificate in the past seven days.

There have been 238 deaths within 28 days of a positive test in North Somerset.

In South Gloucestershire, no deaths were recorded yesterday on January 16, this means that the total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate stays at 266.

This means that there have been eight deaths recorded with Covid-19 on the death certificate in the past seven days.

There have been 249 deaths within 28 days of a positive test in North Somerset.
