Ticketholders for the upcoming BBC Radio 2 Live festival being held at Temple Newsam this month say they are outraged after being told they can no longer bring their own chairs to the event.
The event will take place from September 17 to September 18 at the Temple Newsam Estate. The show will include huge names such as Tears For Fears, Craig David, Robbie Williams and Olly Murs. However, despite the big-name acts, people have been left disappointed after hearing about a change made to this year's festival.
BBC Radio 2, who run the event, have changed the policy on chairs due to safety reasons. Originally when people bought their tickets they were allowed to bring a chair into the event, one per ticket holder.

BBC Radio 2 have contacted those with tickets to explain this is no longer the case and say they understand how it will affect people. A spokesperson for BBC Radio 2 said: "For event safety reasons we have made an update to the Terms and Conditions and informed ticket holders.
"We do understand that this may impact some people so have asked them to get in touch to discuss their specific requirements in order to try and accommodate them at the event. We cannot comment on individual cases, but are liaising direct with anyone affected who contacts us."
Those with tickets took to social media to call out BBC Radio 2 for changing the policy just a couple of weeks before the event. Nicky said: "@BBCRadio2 why the decision to not allow chairs into the live event on 17th September at @TempleNewsam
"Most ticket holders will be 40+, it’s an all day event and we are expected to sit on potentially wet grass?! That’ll be a no from me then!"
Cathryn said: "#BBCRadio2 many people are unable to attend now, and would not have paid for tickets if they had known no chairs were allowed. Really put a dampener on an event we were looking forward to as half of our party are now unable to attend! What is the reasoning behind this decision?"
Temple Newsam responded to Nicky's Tweet saying it was a decision made by BBC Radio 2 and that those attending the event should contact them for further information.
