Outlander fans delighted by Lord John Grey's season seven return

Outlander fans are beside themselves with the news that season seven will hit screens this year.

Scots star Sam Heughan dropped the exciting update just before Christmas - signalling an end to the current Droughtlander very soon. And this week they've got even more reason to look forward as a sneak peek at what lies in store for the new series has just been posted to the official Instagram page of the hit Starz drama - and a familiar face is set to make a much-welcomed return with a new look, as writes the Express.

In the snap, Lord John Grey can be seen looking dashing as he posed in a red coat with frills and a tricorn hat. Styling out the colonial style, fans were over the moon with the confirmation that actor David Berry will be appearing in at least one episode of season seven. However, it left them demanding more!

@sole.olguin87 commented: “Lord John needs more screen time, I need him [to have] more screen time!!!!”

@samkraupner replied: “Great photo! (Love the outfit!) Outlander needs more Lord John Grey - always!!”

And @outlandishpatsfan1 exclaimed: “Oh, Lord John!!!! Can't wait to see what you're up to on season seven. Certainly looking forward to it!”

While a number of other fans proposed Lord Grey have his own spin-off set within the Outlander universe.

“So this is the actual spin-off we want, not Jamie’s parents. When will you announce it?” @drache_66 asked.

@hellotajreen cried: “Where is the Lord John spinoff series we all want?”

And @tchtc replied: “David Berry needs his own series - even if it has nothing to do with Outlander.”

With the main cast including Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe set to return in season seven, it's likely that we will also see other fan favourites. Dave Berry had already dropped hints he was returning to fix things between Lord Grey and Jamie while fans have long speculated on Graham McTavish's comeback.

Others who are sure to appear include the likes of Alexander Vlahos (Allan Christie), Mark Lewis Jones (Tom Christie) and Chris Larkin (Richard Brown) as we get to the end of the Christie family saga.
