Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen shut down by teenage son over GCSEs query

Shepherdess Amanda Owen was shut down by her son Reuben in the latest episode of Our Yorkshire Farm.

The 46-year-old star of the popular Channel 5 series, along with her husband Clive Owen, 66, wanted to speak to her eldest son about his lockdown-affected GCSE exams and what happened after they had been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The teenager arrived back at the farm to share his results with his parents but when asked by Amanda how his grades compared to the highest that can be achieved, he hit back: "Oh, don’t go into that."

The episode heard the narrator telling viewers: "[Reuben] has arrived home to discover how the cancellation of his GCSE exams have affected his results.”

However, there was good news for his parents as he revealed that he passed them all with flying colours.

Amanda asked: "You passed them all? Even music?”

Clive added “So, English and maths, the two important ones?”

The teenager said that he got a six maths, which was a grade B in the old GCSE scores.

Amanda was not really sure what that meant, so asked if that was a good mark.

The teen replied: "Anything four and above is a pass. I got nothing below a four so I passed it all. I got a five in English language, a six in design and technology."

Amanda then asked: “So, what’s the best score you can get?”

Reuben replied: "Oh, don’t go into that,” before shutting down requests from his mother to explain how the new grade boundaries worked.

He then added: “Nine, but we didn’t get any of them. If we turn [the six] upside down, it might look like a nine."

Despite the confusion, Amanda and Clive were over the moon at their son's efforts.
