Oregon State (0-2) vs. Cal Poly (1-1) Game Preview
Why Cal Poly Will Win
The Mustangs have the offense to be a problem.
The passing game is among the best in the FCS, averaging over 20 yards per completion and dominating on third downs. The ground attack gets things moving, too, even if Weber State and its great defense managed to slow things down last week.
The pieces are in place to keep up if the Beavers get out early and this becomes a shootout.
Oregon State couldn’t handle the Hawaii passing game in last week’s loss, and it’s not doing anything to stop anyone so far on third downs. Get ready for a bit of a shootout.
Why Oregon State Will Win
Cal Poly might have an interesting offense that can explode to keep this going, but Oregon State has better weapons and more pop.
The Beavers are 0-2, but there’s a lot to like. For all of the problems, the offense leads all Pac-12 teams in third down conversions, and so far, the O hasn’t turned the ball over.
The running game got rolling against Hawaii, with Jermar Jefferson going off for 183 yards and a score, and Artavis Pierce finished with two touchdowns. The ground attack should be able to roll without a problem, and the Beaver passing game has the upside to go for over 200 yards.

What’s Going To Happen
Cal Poly will get its body shots in, but Oregon State will be too strong and too consistent to blow this. It’ll be scary at times – the Mustang offense is good and the Beaver defense isn’t – but Jonathan Smith’s team will get its first win.
