Oprah Winfrey to receive Cecil B. de Mille Award at 2018 Golden Globes

Oprah Winfrey will be honored with the 2018 Cecil B. de Mille Award at the 75th Annual Golden Globes, it was announced Wednesday.

The media mogul, who is being recognized for making "an incredible impact on the world of entertainment," responded to the news on her Twitter by writing, "What an honor."

"As a global media leader, philanthropist, producer and actress, she has created an unparalleled connection with people around the world, making her one of the most respected and admired figures today," said Meher Tatna, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

"Holding titles such as Chairman, CEO and Founder, Oprah is one of the most influential women of our time, and this honor is well deserved especially in this 75th anniversary year of the Golden Globe Awards," Tatna added.

Winfrey, who helms a cable network, magazine, and production company, among a long list of accomplishments, is best known for The Oprah Winfrey Show, a talk-show that ended in 2011.

Morgan Freeman, who received the award in 2012, delivered the news during the HFPA's "Golden Globe 75th Anniversary Special," on Wednesday.

Winfrey will join the ranks of Audrey Hepburn, Barbra Streisand, Alfred Hitchcock, Walt Disney, Frank Sinatra, and Elizabeth Taylor, among other Hollywood greats.
