Opening of new Leeds Wetherspoon bar at Cross Gates delayed

The opening of the highly-anticipated new Wetherspoon has been delayed.

The Charles Henry Roe, in Austhorpe Road, Cross Gates, was originally expected to open on Tuesday, March 3.

This will now be delayed by at least three weeks, according to a spokesperson for Spoons, after contractor Sanderson Construction went into administration.

The Castleford-based company had previously worked with the bar chain on their establishments at Heathrow Terminal 5 and St Pancras station in London.

JD Wetherspoon faced a long battle with Leeds City Council in its discussions to open the Cross Gates pub.

For those of you who can't wait for it to open we have had a sneak peek at some CGI images of the plans for the Charles Henry Roe to how the interior will appear.
