Only trailing Alabama, Ohio State has the second-most players in the NFL

The Ohio State Buckeyes breed excellent NFL players. All you have to do is turn on the television during Sundays in the fall to find plenty of Buckeyes making plays and highlights.

With 44 players on active rosters, and a total of 52 among rosters including practice squads and the injured reserve list, there’s plenty of Buckeye pride to go around.

The most notable names are Michael Thomas and Ezekiel Elliott, the highest-paid wide receiver and running back in the NFL today. Players like Nick Bosa, Dwayne Haskins and Parris Campbell will get their big-league career underway this upcoming season.

That said, Ohio State is a clear NFL factory but still far from the top NFL-producing college. That distinction belongs to Alabama.

According to Field Yates’ listing, the Buckeyes are the only Big Ten team in the top five and just one of three in the top ten, the other two — Penn State and Wisconsin — are tied at No. 10.

The Buckeyes have had a whopping sixteen players drafted in the seven-round NFL draft over the past two seasons. Ohio State would be wise to use all those numbers and money to recruit future players who want to take their games to the next level.

And it’s not over yet. With a dynamic roster this season, Ohio State will continue to put a high volume of players into the NFL.
