Only Fools and Horses star Daniel Peacock is son of a British comedy legend

You may not instantly remember Mental Mickey from cult TV classic Only Fools and Horses, but his dad, comedy legend Trevor Peacock certainly did.

Trevor, best known for playing Jim Trott in the BBC comedy series The Vicar of Dibley, was the father of actor Daniel Peacock who made his debut in the Peckham-based BBC classic in 1985.

In the episode, cosmic Rodney Trotter joins a band as a drummer in hopes of a glittering music career, and older brother Del Boy becomes their manager in his latest money-making scheme, reports MyLondon.

The lead singer of the group, which is called 'A Bunch of Wallies', is feisty Mickey Maguire - otherwise known as Mental Mickey, according to Rodney's brother Del.

Daniel's character Mickey is a sandwich short of a picnic and even confessed to wheeler-dealer Del that he'd "been to Broadmoore once or twice" - like it was one of life's greatest achievements.

As well as starring alongside Dawn French in the hit BBC comedy, Daniel's dad Trevor also appeared in a long list of other television shows and films including Fred Claus (2007), Hotel Babyl0n (2009), EastEnders (2005), and Jonathon Creek (2003) to name a few.

The actor from North London, sadly passed away aged 89 following a dementia-related illness on Monday, March 8.

His son Daniel continues to follow in his famous father's footsteps and has established a successful acting career with credits including Toast of London (2014), Foyle's War (2015), Coming of Age (2011), The Bill (1988 - 1991) plus many more.

Most recently he starred in the movie For the Love of Ella in 2018.

In other Only Fools and Horses news, Tessa Peake-Jones, who played Del's wife, dated her on-screen son for nearly three decades.

The actress, now 63, began playing Raquel Turner in the BBC sitcom back on 1988.

Despite their ups and downs, the pair remained a central romance on the series and Raquel eventually became the mother to Del Boy's son, Damien.

While played by various actors as an infant, Damien was played by actor Ben Smith as a teen.

However, in a memorable sequence from the classic episode Heroes and Villains (the Batman and Robin episode), Damien's uncle Rodney Trotter ( Nicholas Lyndhurst ) dreamt he existed in a nightmare dystopian future where an adult Damien rules the Western world and is played by actor Douglas Hodge.

Hodge, now 61, was Peake-Jones' partner for more than 25 years and shares two children with the actress.

The couple split up in 2013.
