Drivers under 55 years old will be able to renew their driving licences online starting March next year.
The measure aims to reduce red tape and help motorists, taking effect from March 4, 2026.
“Drivers who are healthy will not experience significant changes in their ability to drive,” said caretaker Transport Deputy Minister Surapong Piyachote. “This provision allows those under 55 to renew licences electronically without having to appear in person.”
Drivers over 55 or those whose licences have lapsed for more than one year must still take tests, including reaction time and eyesight checks, at transport offices.
Applicants can submit renewal requests via the Department of Land Transport’s website.
