Nothing can ruin an appetite like witnessing a DoorDash driver vigorously scratching his foot as he waits for a customer’s order. Even if the food doesn’t belong to you, it’s enough to feel the urge to projectile vomit. This is how one Orlando-based woman felt after catching one doing exactly that in the wild.

Anyone Craving DoorDash?
For five seconds, TikTok creator Nikole (@nikolemariee_) captures her “POV: When the DoorDasher won’t stop [scratching] his feet before picking up someone’s food.”
While sitting at a table at an unnamed restaurant, she films the alleged driver standing in line, balancing on one foot in Crocs, absorbed in his phone. With his other leg crossed over his thigh, he violently claws his bare heel. Once he looks up from his screen, he continues to scrape it, completely unaware of the reaction he is eliciting.
Needless to say, the content creator is horrified. “I was trying not to throw up. No more DoorDash for me,” she captions the video.
Viewers Are Repulsed
Nikole’s clip amassed 8.9 million views, with many so disgusted that they’ve sworn off DoorDash.
“I just canceled and deleted the app!!!” one viewer commented.
“I think this cured my [DoorDash] addiction,” another remarked.
“Thank you for this. I was going to be lazy for lunch today but I think not now,” a third stated.
Moreover, fellow drivers were appalled.
“As someone who delivers and takes it very seriously, all of these horror stories are mind blowing and I promise some of us care,” one commenter said.
“I’m a dasher and i dont even move like that constantly wash my hands and i treat the customers food with respect,” a second echoed.
What Are Policies For DoorDash Drivers?
According to the company’s website, they require their drivers to follow food safety laws. Therefore, anything that compromises the food is prohibited, for example:
- Tampering
- Ignoring allergy instructions
- Contamination
Those who violate these standards are subject to removal from the platform.
The Horror Stories Continue
Almost anyone can agree that there is a certain degree of trust if you’re relying on a stranger to deliver your food. Often, we place blind trust in our drivers, hoping they won’t tamper with our order. Unfortunately, there are plenty of bad apples out there.
The most notorious are Dashers who keep customers’ orders for themselves. Some of these include Chipotle, Wingstop, and seafood boil. While downright frustrating, it’s pretty mild. Take this woman who posted a screenshot of a conversation with her Dasher about her missing chicken wings, only to receive a photo of them bitten into. Clearly, the Dasher was enjoying them and was rubbing it in the woman’s face, mocking her.
However, it’s not strictly DoorDash drivers. A 2022 survey reported by Retail Brew uncovered that 79% of food delivery drivers have chowed down on customers’ orders. But it only gets worse. The same survey revealed that 10% claimed to have urinated in a water bottle on the job.
When using delivery apps, proceed with caution.
