One punter wins big on night of Irish lotto mega-jackpot draw

One lucky Irish Lotto player has won a massive €250,000 after tonight's Lotto Plus 2 draw.

The winning numbers were 2, 9, 27, 34, 36, and 41 with a bonus number of 25, as players are urged to check their tickets.

There were no winners of the record-breaking Lotto jackpot of over €19.06 million which has been rolling over for weeks now, or of the Lotto Plus 1 tonight - however, in total, over 184,000 players won prizes.

Players will once more have a chance at landing the incredible amount this Saturday, with lots of chances to win big amid the new rules.

Due to the sheer magnitude of the Jackpot, no additional money can be added until it is won.

The funds that would normally go to the jackpot instead will be distributed to the next prize tier at which there are winners.

For example, if there is a winner or winners at the Match 5 + Bonus tier, the additional funds will be allocated to this tier.

If there is no winner at the Match 5 + Bonus tier, the additional funds will then be allocated to the next tier at which there is a winner or winners which would be the Match 5 tier.

Ahead of Saturday's Lotto draw, National Lottery officials are encouraging players to buy their tickets early as incredible demand for tickets seeing the Lotto wesbite crash once more this evening.

Tickets must be purchased ahead of the cut-off time for Lotto sales at 7.45 pm this Saturday.
