One of the UK's best burger joints to open in Nottingham city centre

A restaurant which was named one of the UK's best burger joints is heading to Nottingham city centre later this year.

Work is underway to transform an empty property, once the Gourmet Burger Kitchen, at Trinity Square.

GBK closed down during the pandemic in 2020 and the unit has been vacant since then.

Founded just over the border in Leicestershire in 2017, Boo is well-known for its handcrafted American-style smash burgers, made from Aberdeen Angus beef patties.

The chain, which has branches in Leicester, Fosse Park, and Loughbrough, recently closed an outlet in Lenton to focus on its move into the city centre.

The menu features nine different options including the Haystack, which comes topped with crispy onion strings, gherkins, American cheese and house sauce, Chick-a-Boo packed with crispy chicken breast, and Booloumi with halloumi cheese.

Two vegan burgers with plant-based beef and chicken are served.

Accompanying sides include skin-on rustic fries and 'ziggy' crinkle cut fries, and drinks such as creamy shakes in strawberry, vanilla, chocolate and peanut butter flavours.

A kids' menu features mini burgers.

Last August Boo made it into StagWeb's top 30 'badass burger joints' for 2021, based on the burgers, the range, venue, value for money and overall experience.

The stag party organiser said: "American-style burgers brought to the shores of Blighty, Boo have boomed into our Top 30 with their transatlantic stacks which are truly bootiful!

"Let’s face it, America know their way around a burger and Boo have taken the best elements and put their own British spin on it with their succulent Aberdeen Angus patties and their home-grown grub."

An opening date for Trinity Square has yet to be announced.
