One of Manchester's best Thai food spots is opening an Oldham site

That's Thai, the tiny Thai restaurant on a backstreet near Strangeways, has opened a second restaurant.

The family-operated cafe, which received a rave review from the M.E.N. last year, has branched out to Oldham after a busy few years at their first location.

That's Thai Oldham is located a short distance from the Derker tram stop and is slightly larger than the first, able to accommodate up to 12 dine-in customers.

The menu remains much the same - diners can expect stir fries, curries and noodle dishes with prices usually around £7 for a main.

The walls are covered in photographs of Thailand, from the Wat Arun temple in Bangkok to the turquoise blue waters of Maya Bay.

Owner Wan Pradit Hewitt said: "We had customers coming to Manchester from Rochdale and Uppermill and saying: 'It's too far to travel, you need to open in Oldham!'

"So we kept looking for a site and then we found one, it's an old cafe.

"It feels very good, I'm very happy."

Wan opened her original restaurant in a former greasy spoon-style cafe attached to her husband's garage.

Despite its unlikely location (it's a lone restaurant in a maze of factory buildings) it rightly earned a loyal following.

Authentic Bangkok-style food, fresh ingredients and a warm welcome have made That's Thai one of Manchester's best hidden gems.

Wan has handed the reins of the Oldham cafe over to her niece, who is running the kitchen.

That's Thai Oldham is located at 2 Cromford Street, OL1 4EA.
