One of Britain's most popular sweets is coming back after more than 20 years

In recent weeks we have seen multiple food comebacks.

First it was Cadbury's Bournville Old Jamaica bar then Walkers announced that it was bringing back two cult favourites - Wotsits Flamin' Hot and Sizzling Steak flavours.

But this latest announcement will have retro sweet fans giving in to a sugar rush.

Sadly, it's not Tooty Frooties, Campino's or Sherbet Fountrains. But we think you'll still be pretty happy with what it is.

After more than 30 years, Opal Fruits will be back on shelves next month when they make a big return to a selection of UK stores.

The chewy sweets made their debut back in the swinging sixties but there name was changed two decades later to the name we all recognise - Starbust.

But now it has been confirmed by Mars that Opal Fruits are coming back in late February but you'll have to be quick as its only for a limited time.

And if you remember them rightly, you'll be pleased to hear the classic flavours of strawberry, lemon, orange and lime are all making a return.

The new pouches, which will still be sold alongside Starbust packs, will be available in Iceland, The Range, Poundland, B&M, Home Bargains and Savers.

Hannah Jackson, senior brand manager at Mars, told The Sun: "I'm delighted that Opal Fruits are making a special return to British shelves.

"Bringing back the original flavours is sure to bring a smile to the faces of retro treat lovers across the nation. Be quick, though – they won't be available for long!"

The publication also reports that Mars couldn't give an exact launch date, only confirming that the first shipment will roll out on February 24. Poundland also added they expect to stock the tweets for "eight to ten weeks".

That's us stocking up, then.
