For the first time since ESPN has been releasing its weekly College Football Playoff Picks, there’s one of the 14 panelists that doesn’t believe Ohio State has the goods to make it to the party.
So who is this masked media personality? I’m glad you asked. It’s none other than senior writer Ivan Maisel. He instead has Notre Dame being a part of all the fun. The reality is that with the Buckeyes sitting on the sidelines still preparing for the 2020 season, they’ve fallen off the radar a wee bit for some media members.
Case in point: Ohio State was one of the two teams — along with Clemson — to have the majority of the panelists’ votes when these projections first came out. Slowly, the Buckeyes has lost votes as one of the top two, and now, five weeks later, only one ESPN panelist polled has OSU making the national championship. That man, if you’d like to send him some bitcoin or flowers, is Chris Low.
It’s a little curious how Ohio State can fall out of favor just because it hasn’t played a game, but that’s the reality of starting late. Apparently, Maisel and others believe Alabama and Clemson have looked unbeatable compared to the double-digit NFL draft picks the Buckeyes are going to have in April.
