Olly Murs has revealed that doctors told him he had to make it to London within "hours" after being struck down with blood poisoning sepsis.
The singer dashed to the capital for an emergency procedure after a knee operation to insert a metal plate left him with an infection.
Olly was rushed into hospital for the emergency procedure, telling that he had the surgeons had a tight window in which to operate.
He recalled to The Sun that a surgeon had told him: "You need to come into London now. We need to operate within the next couple of hours. Go and get a bag."
Olly added: "They had to open me up in case the infection spread. So it got nasty."
But cool cucumber Olly didn't loose his head - opting not to worry girlfriend Amelia Tank during her sunny Ibiza getaway.
He did eventually tell her what had happened, and she went straight to the hospital to see him once she'd touched back down in the UK.
Olly joked that Amelia was still suffering from a hangover having come straight from the Spanish party resort.
"All I could smell was the alcohol," the cheeky chappy laughed, "She couldn't even speak - she'd lost her voice.
"I think if anything she needed to bed more than I did. Bless her, she looked like when you come home from a really heavy weekend."
Meanwhile, Olly's dropped a major hint he's set to pop the question to model Amelia having been dating since January last year.
Appearing on Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston's Heart Breakfast show, Amanda suggested he could film the big moment for a TikTok video.
"Oooh wow," Olly chuckled, "maybe that seems like it could be the way forward for this new generation of TikTok."
He more or less confirmed plans to propose during a chat with Harry and Jamie Redknapp and comedian Tom Davis during Sky's Harry's Home Fixtures.
"Are we going to get an invite to the wedding?" Jamie teased.
"Listen, if, when, I'm sure I'll marry Amelia," Olly came back.
"When I get married all you guys are invited. 100 per cent."
