Olivia Newton-John's husband speaks out on her 'lucid and pain-free' final days

Dame Olivia Newton-John was 'free of pain' in final days as details of her state memorial are released.

The grieving husband of the late Grease star says she was licid until her death with her last weeks spent in peace.

Businessman John Easterling, who was with the Grammy winner when she died of cancer aged 73 last August, says she remained positive until the very end.

"She was very clear and very alive and very conscious and not in pain, so there was a quality of life there at that time that I think is so critical," he said.

"That was part of Olivia's great contribution with the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Center providing a real quality of life for people was close to her heart.

"That's a lot of the focus there and was with Olivia too through her entire journey," John told The Daily Telegraph.

Dame Olivia be remembered at a free ticketed service to be held on Sunday February 26.

The event will feature tributes from family and friends as her fans also get to say goodbye.

Singer Delta Goodrem will appear at Hamer Hall, Arts Centre Melbourne, it has been announced.

Olivia and Easterling married in June 2008.

He told last week how every day with her was a “bit of magic”.

She was “the most courageous and compassionate woman” he had ever met he told an audience at an event in Los Angeles.

“We shared a love and a happiness on an order of magnitude that I didn’t even think was possible.

“Olivia and I unexpectedly, madly, deeply, forever fell in love in the Amazon rainforest.

“For the past 15 years, I’ve been blessed to share the depth and the passion of her being.” He added: “Every day with Olivia was a bit of magic. Every day with Olivia was supernatural.

“She was the most courageous and compassionate woman that I’ve ever known, with a calming capacity to genuinely care about other people.”

Shortly after Olivia's death, co-star John Travolta has shared a special tribute.

He wrote: "My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much.

"We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the moment I saw you and forever. Your Danny, your John."

The two actors first met on the set of Grease in 1978, and retained a strong friendship for 44 years until her passing on August 8, after her breast cancer returned in 2017 as stage four.
