Oliver Burke admits it was his time to shine for Scotland after scoring dramatic late winner

Oliver Burke admitted scoring Scotland 's late winner over Cyprus was an opportunity that was made for him.

The 22-year-old came off the bench to seal a dramatic late goal and give manager Steve Clarke a victory in his first game in charge with a 2-1 win over Cyprus and gets their Euro 2020 campaign back on track.

Captain Andy Robertson sensationally gave the hosts the lead at Hampden with a rocket from outside the box just after the hour mark.

But it looked like another night of doom and gloom for the Tartan Army after Ioannis Kousoulos headed home unmarked from close range with just minutes remaining.

But Burke was Scotland's saviour, first agonisingly heading Ryan Fraser's cross off the bar.

Luckily the ball bounced right back at the forward, who wasted no time in smashing the ball into the back of the net from close range to send the fans into raptures.

Burke himself has had a frustrating season on loan at Celtic, while the West Brom loanee was part of the treble Treble, he was not able to have a big an impact as he probably would have liked.

But tonight that was all put behind him, as he savoured the moment and says his side fully deserved all three points.

He said: "It was an amazing feeling to get my first Scotland goal, my first senior goal and credit to the boys they were fantastic today and I’m really happy for the team.

"Personally when the game is going like that it’s made for me to make an impact, when we conceded so late I think it drove us a little bit more and it pushed us to get that next goal and I felt we deserved it to be honest."
