The agent of Manchester City ace Oleksandr Zinchenko is confident that the 'right choice' was made by staying in the Premier League and thanked Pep Guardiola for handing him a chance.
The 22-year-old joined City in 2016 but was not an immediate starter, facing competition with Fabian Delph last season after Benjamin Mendy's injury left him out of action.
Zinchenko eventually cemented his spot in Guardiola's side in the second half of last season and was rewarded with a new contract during the summer.
However, his path could have been different as his agent, Alan Prudnikov, spoke about Napoli's previous interest in the Ukraine international - but believes the decision to stay was the right one.
“Zinchenko in the past near Napoli? In hindsight, we can say that staying in Manchester City was the right choice,” Prudnikov told Radio Marte, as relayed by CalcioNapoli24 .
“We are grateful to Guardiola for the chance he gave the boy to develop and play. Zinchenko renewed last summer with City and is focused on the English club, he wants to win many trophies.
However, he added that a transfer in the future cannot be overlooked and spoke about the intention for Zinchenko to play in Italian football.
“With Guardiola he plays at fullback, but he can do at least four roles and today he is focused on City, but in football never say never.
“One day it would be nice to beat Ronaldo also in Serie A, but it is necessary that Cristiano does not retire also because at the moment Zinchenko’s future is at City.”
