Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issues Alex Telles injury update for Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has issued an update on Alex Telles' availability for Manchester United ahead of the Premier League clash against West Brom.

The Brazil international endured a strange two weeks over the international break, travelling to South America to represent his nation but seeing a mix-up surrounding COVID-19 tests.

It was initially announced that Telles had tested positive and would miss the World Cup qualifier against Uruguay but another test returned a negative result, which made him eligible.

While he did not come off the bench for Brazil in that clash on Wednesday evening, his spell with the international side was certainly dramatic.

Now having returned to England, Telles is in line to make his Premier League debut for United against West Brom with Luke Shaw sidelined through injury.

There were question marks about his availability following the drama with the Brazil squad but Solskjaer has dropped a hint ahead of the match.

“Yeah, he travelled and wanted to play for his national team then I think there was a mix up with the tests - positive/negative," he told the club's official website.

"There was loads of talk about if he was going or not, first of all to the first game and then to the second game. He's come back and has been training a few days and is looking good.”

Telles' only appearance in a United shirt so far came in the Champions League victory against Paris Saint-Germain, where he played over an hour.

Shaw's fine form this season has kept him absent from the starting line-up but he could now have the opportunity to stake a claim for more regular action.
