Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Erling Haaland will make his own mind up which club he joins this summer.
Manchester United and the rest of Europe's elite clubs, including Manchester City and Barcelona, are all in the race to sign the £150million-rated striker from Borussia Dortmund.
Haaland has scored 33 goals in 31 games for BVB this season and has starred in Germany since arriving from Red Bull Salzburg 16 months ago.
But Solskjaer, who worked with Haaland when the 20-year-old sensation was at Molde, said only the player know where he wants his career to take him next.
“I'm focusing on the next two months and whatever happens in the world of football, there's only so many places anyone can go to,” said Solskjaer
“My focus is on the ones who are here and, even though I worked with Erling, it's not right for me as Manchester United manager to talk about Erling - he will make his own mind up.
“I think the way the world works at the moment, you'd like to do all your business on the quiet and all your talks on the quiet, but there are platforms everywhere.
“The news and the media make that more difficult. Hopefully we can suddenly sit here with players no one has written about.
“We conduct our recruitment business, scouting, the players that we are interested in, we do it the right way, I hope and feel.”
It comes after Haaland's agent, Mino Raiola, and his father, ex-Man City midfielder Alf Inge, were spotted in Spain for talks with both Barcelona and Real Madrid on Thursday.
United face Brighton this weekend looking to cement their place in the top four amid the ongoing battle for places.
And while Anthony Martial is likely to miss out, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood could both return from injury to feature.
"Marcus and Mason trained for the first time this morning and hopefully they can get through that," he said.
“If they can complete the full session tomorrow, they might be available for selection on Sunday.”
